Contract & Policy

1.
Purchase Terms
(Buyer must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to enter into this contract.)

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a place on our waitlist and will be applied toward the total purchase price. The remaining balance is due when the litter reaches eight (8) weeks of age. At that time, the Buyer will visit our kennel to select their puppy, pay the remaining balance, and take the puppy home.
Pick order is determined by the order in which deposits are received. If no puppy is available, the Buyer will be moved to the next available litter’s waitlist.
NO CASH REFUNDS ARE EVER GIVEN. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

2. Return-to-Breeder Policy (Right of First Refusal)
If at any time the Buyer is unable to keep the puppy, Texas Rottweilers must be notified immediately. The Breeder retains the right of first refusal and will either take the puppy back or assist with rehoming. The puppy may not be resold, rehomed, surrendered to a shelter, rescue, dog pound, or any other third party. No refunds will be issued for returned puppies or dogs.

3. Responsibility of Ownership
The Buyer agrees to provide proper housing, food, fresh water, training, socialization, exercise, and veterinary care. The Buyer further agrees to maintain current vaccinations and parasite prevention and understands that the puppy may never be kept solely outdoors or chained.
The Buyer agrees never to fight, sell, trade, or surrender the dog to a pet shop, puppy mill, shelter, rescue, dog pound, or laboratory. If the Buyer is unable to keep the dog, the Breeder must be contacted first for return or rehoming assistance.

The Buyer understands that Rottweilers are a strong working breed requiring structure, leadership, and responsible ownership. Texas Rottweilers assumes no liability for injuries, damages, legal claims, or behavioral issues once the puppy leaves the Breeder’s care. The Buyer accepts full responsibility for the dog and its actions thereafter.

4. Ownership & Registration
Ownership transfers to the Buyer upon full payment and once the puppy reaches eight (8) weeks of age. Texas Rottweilers retains the right to sell the puppy until ownership has officially transferred. AKC registration paperwork will be provided at pickup.

5. Naming Requirements
The Buyer may choose the puppy’s call name (daily-use name). However, when registering the puppy with the AKC, the registered name must include “Texas Rottweilers.”
Example: If the puppy’s call name is Nova, the registered name must be Texas Rottweilers Nova. We are proud of our puppies and require our kennel name to follow them. Assistance is available upon request.

6. Spay/Neuter & Breeding Agreement
All puppies are sold as pets only with limited AKC registration. This means the Buyer does not have breeding rights unless explicitly stated in writing by Texas Rottweilers. Breeding without written authorization is strictly prohibited and constitutes a breach of this contract.

7. Health Guarantee
Texas Rottweilers guarantees that the puppy is healthy to the best of our knowledge at the time of sale. A one (1) year health guarantee is provided to demonstrate confidence in our breeding program.
Covered Conditions:
• Orthopedic: Hip and elbow dysplasia
• Cardiac: Severe, life-threatening congenital heart defects
• Genetic: Some Specific, testable genetic disorders common in Rottweilers like JLPP.

Exclusions:
This guarantee does not cover non-life-threatening conditions such as
• uneven bites or umbilical hernias.
• parasites (including worms, fleas, and giardia)
• injuries, accidents, neglect, or environmental factors. (e.g., the dog becoming overweight or developing easty westy) caused by improper care.

To Maintain This Guarantee, the Buyer Must:
• Take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian within four (4) business days of pickup and provide proof of the visit.
• Provide proper care at all times, including but not limited to; vaccinations, deworming, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, routine and emergency veterinary care, food, water, and shelter.

If a life-threatening hereditary defect is diagnosed within one (1) year, the Buyer must submit a written report from a licensed veterinarian and, if the puppy passes away, a necropsy performed at the Buyer’s expense.
Upon confirmation, the Breeder will provide a replacement puppy of equal value from the next available litter. No cash refunds will be issued; all monies paid are invested in the dogs.

8. Puppy Health & No Public Ground Policy (No Paws On The Ground)

Parvovirus is widespread in Texas and many other states, and Rottweilers appear to be particularly susceptible for unknown reasons. Due to this risk, Texas Rottweilers strongly recommends that until the puppy has completed its full vaccination series (approximately sixteen (16) to eighteen (18) weeks of age), the Buyer agrees not to allow the puppy’s paws to touch public or unknown ground. This includes, but is not limited to, sidewalks, parks, pet stores, veterinary clinic waiting areas, apartment grounds, parking lots, and rest areas.

The Buyer acknowledges that puppies are highly vulnerable to serious and potentially fatal diseases, including parvovirus, distemper, leptospirosis, and other environmental pathogens that may remain in soil or on surfaces for extended periods.

The Buyer agrees to protect the puppy by carrying it in public areas, using a sanitized carrier, and limiting ground exposure to clean, private property until cleared by their Veterinarian otherwise.

Entire Agreement
This document represents the entire agreement between Texas Rottweilers and the Buyer. No other verbal or written representations shall be considered valid unless included in this contract and signed by both parties.
